Analysis of the spectrum and directivity of the electro-acoustic cello made from composite materials

This academic paper focuses on the sound properties of an inovated 3D printed cello made from synthetic materials by the company MyCello as compared to traditional cello. The theoretical part of this paper deals with acoustics, anatomy and recording of both types of cello. The practical part then describes the process of measuring and processing of the data and evaluates the outcomes. The spectrum, formant frequencies and sound radiation are analyzed in this paper.

The aim of this diploma thesis was to design and subsequently produce a functional prototype of a musical instrument inspired by the cello or the fretless bass guitar at a scale of 1:1, so that it can be presented in terms of both processing and production, but also sound presentation. The thesis consists of two main segments, the theoretical part focuses mainly on the explanation of the reason for the creation of this concept, the familiarization with the tools on which the prototypes are based, the information about the instruments from the historical pieces to the contemporary ones. The component part is also an explanation of physical concepts and a following description of used materials, components and their importance in this work. The second, practical part deals mainly with the processes necessary for the physical creation of the tool, starting with the initial ideas, presentation of sketches, technical development, production, finalization, but also subsequent measurement and analysis of the prototype.
The Slovak State Philharmonic Košice - The Performers of cello concerts

In this thesis, I present solo violoncello performers who collaborated with the Slovak State Philharmonic in Košice from its foundation to the present day. It contains overviews of all violoncellists who performed solo or as members of a chamber group. I have deliberately selected Slovak personalities and closer present their life and artistic work. A special chapter of the thesis presents first-run compositions for the violoncello and orchestra, from the work of Slovak composers. The last chapter of the thesis is a practical part with a research character. By means of a questionnaire, I studied how violoncello personas influence young cellists and students of conservatories in Košice.
Friedrich August Kummer and his works for two cellos

This master thesis deal with the cellist Friedrich August Kummer a representative of the Dresden school and his works for two cellos. Parts of the thesis are: informations about cello music in Germany, representatives of the Dresden school, Kummer´s biography and Method, description of some works for two cellos and analysis of selected movements of his 3 cello duets op.22. The author colected information from websites, books and sheet music.
Michaela Fukačová as an interpreter of Danish cello music

This bachelor’s thesis focuses on Michaela Fukačová. She is a distinguished Czech cellist, living in Denmark. The thesis deals with her life, professional career and concerto performances. Furthermore, the work is focused on composers who have the greatest influence on the evolution of music in Denmark, including the temporary Danish composers whose work has enriched the cellist literature. Michaela Fukačová is a successful composer of these pieces. She participates in their publicity and integration into the world´s cellist repertory.

Arthur Honegger - Concert for violoncello

Subject of this master thesis is the Concert for violoncello by Arthur Honegger. This thesis aims to explore the circumstances in which the concerto was written, examine its basic structure, highlight the fact that despite its undeniable qualities it is not appreciated adequately and contribute to spread the knowledge about this wonderful piece of music as well as about the composer himself. The thesis is divided into two main parts. First one deals with composer’s life, focusing on period starting with his childhood to the composition of cello concerto. Second part is discussing the concerto, its formal, rhythmical and thematic structure, jazz influences and unusual performance techniques, cadences and available recordings.

This bachelor´s thesis is focused on the assessment of personality of Karl Julievich Davydov, respected cellist and teacher, but it is not the comprehensive portrait. This work tries to catch the principal points of his career in solo and chamber music playing as well as in teaching. This thesis is divided into two chapters. The first one of the five subchapters and three smaller subchapters is focused on the artistic development of Karl Julievich Davydov from his childhood through his cello studies, work as professor in Russia and abroad and performing in chamber ensembles. Second chapter is dedicated to pedagogical principles and values and especially to his "Cello School".
